[DARRINGTON, Wash.] — Late in the evening yesterday, Unit E39 of Snohomish County Fire District 21 was called to respond to a home that was fully involved a few hundred feet north of the Giles Rd cut-off on SR530 in Darrington.
No one was apparently home or injured in the late night blaze that totally destroyed a residence off of SR530 just north of the Giles Rd cut-off. Snohomish County District 21 fire crews spent a large portion of the late evening battling the blaze which had completely engulfed the home and had begun to wander into the adjacent brush by the time crews arrived at the scene.
Fire fighting capabilities were somewhat hampered by a downed power line, believed at the time to be live, and crews had to wait a short period of time while Snohomish County PUD was notified and the power to the presumed live line was turned off.
Mop-up operations continued into the early morning hours.
The home was a total loss.
