Oso General Store will not be closing as reported earlier by the local news media

Local area news media have been reporting that the Oso General Store may close only 3 short months after opening. The stories being reported got the attention of a great deal of caring folks here in the county and beyond, with offers of help pouring in from all around.

Turns out that not only will the Oso General Store not be closing, as has been reported, but the store’s owner, Jäna Hecla, is not really into accepting the kind of charity that was being offered when the story initially broke from KOMO4 News (see the KOMO story) … What the Oso General Store needs is customers .. Making purchases at the store as you drive through Oso is about the only help that’s needed.

Here is Jäna Hecla, owner of the Oso General Store, in her own words …

Ok everybody, I am ready to make a statement. I have been inundated with caring people wanting clarification and needing an understanding of what is going on. That interview yesterday was not a clear representation of where we stand. I do believe Elisa was trying to put together a piece that would make an impact, but it had a very negative connotation to it. I know my son had the best intentions and it came from his heart when he started the go fund me, but it was against my wishes and please do not donate to it.

I want to make it very clear that the property is not foreclosed on, we are still VERY MUCH OPEN and still plan on doing business as usual. The week or two that I referred to in the clip was to be before drastic measures had to be taken.

The one thing that has happened however is that the word is out that the store is active again and I saw many new faces today and the support has been overwhelming. I am exhausted fielding questions and concerns, so please understand if I don’t address all of them.
I have zero intentions of closing anytime soon, I like what we have built here and will do everything in my power to keep it the way you want it.

If you really want to help, consider stopping by for coffee in the morning or afternoon as our espresso is available open to close, or maybe investing in one of our postal boxes at the store. All your packages and mail will be securely stored in a private mailbox. It will still be Arlington for now, we are working on becoming Oso again with our own ZIP Code.

Thank you again everybody and I truly hope to see you soon ..
