[Snohomish County] — On Friday, May 20, Deputy King County Executive Fred Jarrett briefed Snohomish County leaders on successful efforts to improve customer service and find greater efficiencies in county government. As part of Snohomish County’s STEP Initiative (Service, Technology, Excellence Program), Executive Somers invited Jarrett to Everett to discuss King County’s efforts to promote reforms in county government.
“We appreciate the opportunity to learn from King County’s experience. Fred has been fighting hard to bring better customer service and effective technology to the residents of King County, and we look forward to implementing best practices from their experience,” said Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers.
Snohomish County is implementing the STEP Initiative, a county-wide effort to improve service, add technology innovation, and drive excellence throughout the county. The Executive wants this initiative to be employee driven and empower problem solving. The county has partnered with the Local Government Performance Center of the State Auditor’s Office in support of the STEP initiative.
“King County strives to engage employees and bring continuous improvement to county government. We hope our experience will be useful for Executive Somers and his leadership team as they implement the STEP Initiative,” said Deputy King County Executive Fred Jarrett. “The partnership between King and Snohomish counties is important as we work to tackle critical regional issues and push for ever greater value for our taxpayers.”
